The Toshiba Satellite L755-S5271 budget laptop delivers expert processing, simple games, and a battery you through most of the day. Aimed at students and casual users, the L755-S5271 gives you everything you need for a little work and play.
Design
The L755-S5271 turns off the candy-coated optics other Toshiba laptops. Instead, sport is a checkered pattern called “Silver Matrix”. This satellite is the buyers outside the middle school appeal, and that is a definite plus. The shiny plastic covers the lid and palm rest with a patterned surface that hides fingerprints very well.
You will notice a little bend in the plastic chassis, when you lift the laptop. Measuring 1.48 by 14.96 by 9.84 inches (HWD), the laptop is pretty light, with a weight of only 5.3 kilograms. This is easier than with the HP Pavilion dv6-6013cl (5.6 pounds) and the Asus U56E-BBL5 (5, 5 pounds). The size and weight may not be as portable as a netbook or subnotebook, but it is definitely light enough to carry in a backpack or laptop bag.
The L755-S5271 features a full-size keyboard with a Chiclets adjacent numeric keypad. The keyboard layout bothered me a bit, but that was not unexpected. Toshiba lays keyboards, so the numeric keypad and the traditional keyboard are slightly off-set. It is a matter of personal taste, but it’s not mine. Regardless of the typing experience is fairly smooth, although the space bar is much shorter than I am used to. Below the keyboard is a multi-touch trackpad. The trackpad itself works pretty well, so you can pinch and zoom and scroll with two fingers. AsI have it I had no problems with the trackpad, though it fitted pretty much on the left side of the palm rest, so that right-handed a little awkward. Click the button smooth and comfortable, but they are a little noisy. This type of information is very subjective, so I’d recommend that you try before you buy.

The L755-S5271 features a 15.6-inch widescreen display with a 1,366 by 768 pixels resolution. This resolution is common in the 15-inch space, and you will enjoy video up to 720p. The widescreen display provides enough space for two windows side by side. The display is paired with two stereo speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio. I tested the sound quality by mixing through songs on Pandora, and found them to provide decent sound at low volume, but the sound quality falls a bit as the volume increases. The sound quality is close to good enough for one or two people to sit and a DVD to remember at medium volume without any problems, but when you get to hear for many, makes you wish you had external speakers.
Features
Is the function on the L755-S5271 is set pretty standard for a budget laptop with two standard USB 2.0 ports and a third USB 2.0 port that also offers Toshiba sleep n ‘charge, a feature that allows you free mobile phones, media players can, and the like, while the laptop is turned off. For networking, the L775-S571 Ethernet and 802.11n Wi-Fi, but features such as WiMAXWiDi mobile broadband and 2.0 are not generally seen on systems in this price range, although they are both found on the Sony VAIO VGN-EH14FM / B. The Satellite L775-S571 is also equipped with a 640 GB 5400 rpm hard drive that is larger than the 500 GB drive on the top-rated HP is found dv6 6013cl and fits the drive into the Asus U56E-equipped BBL5 found.

Performance
The L755-S5271 is equipped with a 2.1 GHz Intel Core i3-2310m dual-core processor, a part of the Sandy Bridge Intel’s line-up. Although the core is cheaper in the end i3 Intel’s processor range, there is still a powerful CPU and offers a performance similar to the first generation of top-tier i3 processors, but adding a great improvement in graphics processing. In our overall PCMark performance test achieved 7, L755-S5271 1995 points, goal difference, both the Sony VGN-EH14FM / W (1851) and the i5-equipped Asus U56E-BBL5 (1920). In our Cinebench test R11.5 processor speed, the L755-S5271 scored 2.04 points, beaten only by the Asus-U56E BBL5, the points thanks to a 2.60 Core i5 achieved with turbo boostTechnology.
In multimedia tests, the L755-S5271 scores were almost identical with that of the Sony VGN-EH14FM / B. scored hand brake in our video encoding test, the L755-S5271 2 minutes 24 seconds, identical to the Sony VGN-EH14FM / B ( 2:24), but behind the Asus U56E-BBL5 (1:55). In our Photoshop CS5 image filtering test the L755-S5271 completed our test in 5 minutes 37 seconds, almost the same as the Sony VGN-EH14FM / B (5:35), but behind the LG Optimus 3D and Asus U56E-BBL5 (4:13). The L755-S5271 is quite capable of light image processing and editing of a YouTube clip or two, but all of the multimedia work has made a mainstream notebooks find out how long it takes for this frustration on the L755-S5271 .
The performance of integrated graphics from Intel processing can not change the advanced gaming performance of a dedicated GPU, but there are still some gaming capabilities in this price range. In general, our graphics test achieved 3DMark 06, the L755-S5271 4549 points and 3787 points for medium resolutions at native resolution. This may not be sufficient to support high-end games, but it is enough for World of Warcraft or Torchlight. In recent tests scored the game-L755-S7521 14.18 frames per second (fps), and 18.5 fps in Lost Planet 2, both at 1024 x 768 resolution. Neither game would run at higher resolutions, but these values nor those of rival HP 6013cl dv6 to 14.3 fps (Crysis) and 13.9 fps (Lost Planet 2) achieved.

The L755-S5271 performed fairly well in our MobileMark 2007 battery test. His 6-cell (48Wh) battery lasted 5 hours and 16 minutes. This is virtually identical to the HP dv6-6013cl (5:17 with a 55Wh battery) managed, but not quite as long as the Asus U56E-BBL5 (7:34), but the Asus these best-in-class time with liveda much larger 74Wh battery. L755-S5271 can not perform a full day of work or classes, but it will get you through a DVD double feature, without having to be plugged.
For the students on a budget, or the parents buying their first laptop, the Toshiba Satellite L755-S527 just the right fit for an inexpensive laptop that both productivity and entertainment capabilities. Buyers who could use a more comprehensive function in the same price class more interested in the Asus U56E-BBL5, WiMAX and has WiDi 2.0, in addition to longer battery life and more powerful processor.
